The owner reached out after chasing an overheating issue that had crept in over a few trips. Temps were climbing under load and the alarm had started to sound on longer runs, which is never a call you want to make halfway across the bay.
We met the vessel at her berth and ran a full inspection across the raw water side of both engines. It didn't take long to see that a proper saltwater service was well overdue, and a handful of tired hoses, clamps and a starboard raw water pump on the way out were adding to the story.
From there we pulled the heat exchangers and aftercoolers, removed them from the engines, chemically cleaned the tube stacks and pressure tested everything before it went back in. The gearbox oil coolers and fuel coolers were also pulled and serviced, the starboard raw water pump was replaced, and we fitted fresh anodes, gaskets and O-rings throughout the raw water circuit. Every suspect hose and clamp from the seacocks through to the exhaust risers was replaced before we buttoned her back up.
Once she was back together we ran her through a full sea trial, watched the temperatures settle exactly where they should, and handed her back to the owner ready for the next season without a worry in the world.
